Week X
This week's main feature was, of course, the three lovely pink peonies. Though —I have discovered— I truly like flowers that have textures similar to the texture of statice or viburnum opulus.
Finn was quite interested by how quickly the peonies lost their colour. Lovely as they were, indeed they suddenly became white overnight on Wednesday, even though during the day they had a completely healthy appearance. Which was quite sad, and reminded me of the case of the tulips on Week VII. Finn also thought that the peonies were perhaps too bright and large, and that they overshadowed everything else. Having said that, I must confess that I thought that the pastel colours of the statice, the lisianthus, and of the viburnum opulus, nicely balanced the brightness, at least during the first few days, when the peonies were at their most fresh.
Another interesting point is that this bouquet did not have a distinctive scent. It was quite neutral in that regard.
