Week XLIX
Today is Mother's Day in Britain, so congratulations to all British mothers on their day. Somehow this arrangement feels suddenly more appropiate, with Scottish thistles and English roses.
Indeed the orange of our prima donna roses is not quite the red of the rose of Lancaster, but getting red roses not on Valentine's Day is quite hard, at least in St Andrews. Thus, I am going to say that together with our white avalanche roses, this week we have our best approximation of the Tudor rose. Making an elegantly British bouquet in conjunction with the thistles, and the soft ruscus as a filler.
Of course, congratulations to The Queen, and everlasting glory to the United Kingdom.
